Regulatory Information

Vattenfall Networks Limited holds a licence from the independent regulator, the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority (otherwise known as Ofgem), to own and operate electricity distribution networks.

Please see below for more information about how we comply with the terms of our electricity distribution licence and the relevant regulations.

Premises and Representatives

Reading or fitting meters, dealing with faults and collecting payments, are one of the reasons why we may need to access your premises. For that, we ensure that our staff and contractors (representatives) are aware of our high standard customer service and care towards you. If we send someone to visit your premises, we will, through training and codes of conduct, ensure that they are professional, efficient and thorough while performing their jobs.

You should expect that our representatives when visiting your premises, will explain the reason for calling and who they are. In case of any further questions, information or concerns you may have about our services, the caller will be able to provide you with a phone number for contact.

In rare circunstances, we may need access to your premises for safety reasons.

Legally and functionally separated operations

Distribution of electricity is a regulated monopoly business. Electricity is distributed to end-customers through regional and local electricity networks. Vattenfall's subsidiaries are just some of the many electricity network owners on the market.

The companies in the Vattenfall Group that conduct network operations are, in terms of organisation and decision-making, independent from the companies in the Vattenfall Group that generate, sell or trade in electricity. In organisational terms, Distribution reports directly to Vattenfall's CEO.
